Saturday, October 11, 2008 - Tires (on & off rim, truck or car). Limit 25 Tires per vehicle. No oversized tires will be accepted.
As a service to Albemarle Co. and City of Charlottesville residents, there will be no charge to bring
these Bulky Waste Items to the Ivy Materials Utilization Center. Contact Mark

The Facility is closed on Sundays, New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
General Information
The Material Utilization Center at Ivy, located on State Route 637, serves residents of the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The Center includes: transfer station for municipal solid waste and small loads of construction and demolition debris material, vegetative waste mulching operation, household hazardous waste collection, collection centers for white goods, pallets, and tires, and an Encore Shop for collection and sale of reusable items.
Disposal Charge Minimum:
There is a $5.00 minimum charge per transaction for all solid waste materials that cross the scales.
The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RSWA) was formed in 1990 as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia to manage solid waste management and recycling activities in the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle. In addition to its administrative office, RSWA operates three recycling/waste management facilities in the Charlottesville / Albemarle area: the McIntire Road Recycling Center , the Material Utilization Center at Ivy and the Paper Sort Facility (see facility locations on area map ).
The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority is governed by a five member Board of Directors which consists of the City Manager and the Director of Public Works for the City of Charlottesville, the County Executive and the Director of Engineering and Public Works for Albemarle County, and a Chairperson selected jointly by the City Council and County Board of Supervisors.
