WHAT IS RECYCLING?

Recycling involves the separation and collection of materials for processing and remanufacturing into new products, and the use of the products to complete the cycle.

Money earned from the sale of recyclable materials and tip fees from the Material Utilization Center helps Rivanna Solid Waste Authority to offset operating costs for area recycling. In addition, recycling allows you to reduce your own waste disposal costs. Whether you utilize RSWA's tagbag program, participate in the City of Charlottesville's curbside pickup, or use one of Albemarle County's many private haulers, by simply reducing the amount of garbage you throw away you save money.

Make sure to close the recycling loop by purchasing products made with recycled content. Successful recycling depends on it!
