Voices of Adult Learners Rules

  1. The entry must be the original work of the writer. You may not copy someone else's writing..
  2. The entry must be a new writing, written since the last contest, March 2007. You can see samples of past entries online. No name or program ingformation can appear on the writing.
  3. All entries must have a completed entry form attached to them. No name or program information can appear on the writing.
  4. You must use your name. Anonymous entries will not be accepted.
  5. One entry allowed per person. Choose your best piece to submit.
  6. Entries must be neatly handwritten or typed, double-spaced in a 12-point font, one inch margins, and no more than 650 words.
  7. Remember that all entries are published and placed on the web site. Some may also be recorded at the event. Be sensitive to the effect your writing will have on the people you write about. Entries containing extremely graphic descriptions or hurtful language will be rejected.
  8. Entries must be received by February 7, 2008. Note to teachers: If writings have been typed, you can send documents as an e-mail attachment to susan.erno@ccs.k12.va.us or mail a disk with entries to:

  9. All entrants will be invited to the Awards Presentation on March 27th, 2008 at the Voices of Adult Learners event. All writers will receive an invitation in March. Award winners will be notified in writing by March 10, 2008.
  10. Sixteen cash prizes will be awarded. Additional recognition will be made at the discretion of the judges.
