The William A. Jones III chapter is centered in
Charlottesville with members in Albemarle and
eleven surrounding counties. Each chapter of the
Air Force Association chooses to honor an Air
Force member who represents the highest standards
of valor. Our chapter is named for William A.
Jones III, a Medal of Honor winner who was a
native of Charlottesville.
The mission of the Air Force Association is to
support the United States Air Force and the Air
Force family. The William A. Jones III chapter
has formulated a program to that end that focuses
primarily on education at the local and regional
level, support for current local members of the
USAF and veterans' issues. Encouraging interest
in science, mathematics, leadership and technical
subjects generates dividends that benefit the
community, aerospace research and development and
ultimately, national security. Membership in the Air
Force Association is open to all persons who have
an interest in the mission of the organization,
including present and former members of any
branch of the military service and their spouses.
Note also that previous military service is not
a requirement for membership. Annual individual
membership fee is currently $36.00. The fee
includes a subscription to the acclaimed monthly,
Air Force Magazine.
