in keeping with the new European framework (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).
French Classes Levels
Beginners : A1 Level, Basic User
No French at all? Simply want to start from the very beginning?
→Objective: To understand and use familiar everyday expressions, and very basic
phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Introduce oneself
and others; ask and answer questions about personal details such as where one
lives, people one knows, and things one has; interact in a simple way provided
the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Returning Beginners : A2 Level,
Pre-intermediate Level
Want to refresh your basics in French?
→Objective: To understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to
areas of most immediate relevance such as every day topics, shopping, local
geography, etc... You will be placed in situations of "communication gaps" so
that you will react naturally with an understandable French. You will learn
grammatical structures, a wide range of vocabulary while feeling more confident
with your pronunciation and oral comprehension.

→Number of hours: 125 hours
Independent Users : B1 Level
Can you get by in French language situations such as working, travelling,
talking about school and leisure...?
→Objective: To understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar
matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. You will be able to
produce simple, connected text on topics with which you are familiar or are of
personal interest. Get ready to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes and
ambitions, and briefly give explanations for opinions and plans.
→Method: "Rond-Point 2" based on 9 units.

B2 Level
For those of you who are able to understand the main points during an authentic
conversation.
→Objective: To understand the main ideas of complex dialogue on both concrete
and abstract topics. Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that
makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for
either party. Produce clear, detailed dialogue on a wide range of subjects and
explain a point of view on a particular topic by giving the advantages and
disadvantages of various options.

Intermediate Conversation Class : B1 : Parlez!
French conversation for High Beginners and Low Intermediate levels.
This class focuses on a formal introduction to the art of French conversation
learning idioms and useful dialogues to become more spontaneous. It is a good
way to reinforce your conversation skills.
→Number of hours: Weekly hour-and-a-half sessions, running all year round
→Tools: “Le Français par les textes” Niveau I
Intermediate Conversation Class : B2 Level
This course will inhance your comprehension skills and your ability to
communicate with near fluency in pratical situations: asking for, and giving
information, renting an apartment or a car, giving your opinion, talking about
present, past events and future plans.
→Number of hours: Weekly hour-and-a-half sessions, running all year round
→Tools: “Le Français par les textes” Niveau 2 and an audio-visual method “Sur le
vif”
Proficient User : C1 Level
Near native fluency?
→Objective: understand a wide range of demanding, longer dialogues, and
recognize their implicit meaning. Use language flexibly and effectively for
social, academic and professional purposes. Produce clear, well-structured,
detailed dialogue on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational
patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Proficient User - Mastery : C2 Level
Native fluency? Teacher of French? Do you want to make sure you retain your
French and while improving it?
→Objective: Easily understand virtually everything heard or read. Summarize
information from different spoken and written sources; reconstruct arguments and
accounts in a coherent presentation. Express yourself precisely, differentiating
finer shades of meaning in more complex situations.

Advanced Conversation Class:
C1, C2 Levels

stimulating exchange of opinions about civilization and current issues. This is
an excellent way to continue enriching your vocabulary as well as refining your
grammar knowledge.

English Improvement Classes (EIC)
English Grammar for Students of French (all
ages): E1
French grammar refers to a number of grammatical terms such as conjugation,
pronouns, direct and indirect objects and many others. You might not be sure how
to recognize those parts. This class will teach you how to identify parts of
speech and to analyze the function of words in an English sentence. Without this
basic knowledge, students are severely handicapped in learning French.

English Improvement for Foreigners and
Francophones (Intermediate or Combined Level) : E2
Students will practice speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while
enhancing grammar and vocabulary related to practical topics. Classroom
activities are task-oriented and designed to help students apply what they have
learned. Teaching materials are aligned with SCANS, EFF and CASAS standards

compétences à communiquer en anglais. Maîtrise de la grammaire, du vocabulaire,
phonétique et expressions idiomatiques dans une ambiance conviviale.

A French method for adults beginners, including 2 audio cassettes and a book

For the students and workers who want to improve their knowledge of the business
world specializing in secretarial, commercial, touristic or banking activities.

Private Lessons
Native French-speaking teachers will help you with your homework, or to get

Cooking
Cooking classes in French. Learn about a very important aspect of French culture
through its vocabulary, action verbs, and the idiomatic expressions pertaining
to the recipe of the month. Learn how to follow a French recipe in a friendly
atmosphere, and taste it at the end of class. All costs included.

L'Alliance Française is offering a unique combination of classes, social and cultural activities with francophones
from around the world. Our instructors are French natives or fluent speakers
with university degrees. Classes are small and can be held with a minimum of 6
students. Schedules can be modified to accommodate the wishes of the group.
Quality teaching and small groups give you the best chance to quickly improve
your French. Individual/group tutoring can be organized upon request.
