Dominion Virginia Power collects contributions from its customers all year long via bill inserts and direct donations.  During the winter months, they give a portion of these funds to AIM to disburse for helping people with their heating bills.  The assistance is for residents in Charlottesville and Albemarle County only.  If a client qualifies for assistance from Energy Share funds, they can receive help with any electric bill (not just for electricity from Dominion), heating oil, natural gas, propane, kerosene, or even fire wood.  To apply, applicants need to make an appointment with CARES (Coalition for Assisting Residents in Emergency Situations) at 295-3171, ext. 3050 which is just across the hall from the AIM office.  If an applicant qualifies for assistance, they will be sent to AIM where the payment will be arranged.
