About Group 157

Amnesty International Group 157 has been serving AI in the Charlottesville area for 25 years.

We believe in human rights as a foundation for peace and justice and we regularly take actions demanding that governments live up to the standards set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Meetings

Monthly meetings of AI Group 157 occur on the FIRST MONDAY of each month at 7:30 pm at C'ville Coffee on McIntire Road. Meetings include direct action, fund-raising activities and educational projects, all in support of human rights throughtout the world.

Upcoming Local Events

"Bought & Sold: An Investigative Documentary about the International Trade in Women"

As part of the Stop Violence against Women Campaign, (1997) English; 42 minutes; followed by a discussion.


The documentary is based on a two year undercover investigation conducted by the Global Survival Network (GSN) into the illegal trafficking in women from the Former Soviet Republics, and features interviews with traffickers, Russian mafia, trafficked women, and groups working to provide services to trafficked women.

Refreshments will be served.
