Funding

Because the Center provides quality, affordable services to a local working community, most of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch according to USDA guidelines and for social services assistance for tuition, we depend largely on private donations to meet the financial needs of the Center. Without your generosity the Center would be unable to provide affordable services to its community. We have established a number of funds for benefactors to choose from to help direct their donations.

Making a Tax-deductible Contribution. Please read through the different Fund descriptions below. Alternatively, you may want to print out our Donation Worksheet and read through the different funds at your leisure. Once you have decided on a Fund, please either send a check to Barrett Early Learning Center, 410 Ridge Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or vist our secure internet site for on-line donations. Please indicate if you would like to have your generous donation remain anonymous.

Building and Grounds Fund. The Center is housed in a historic building, a unique site, conveniently located for our community. This fund is intended to assist in maintaining our building, including landscaping and playground maintenance. We are constantly making changes and a lot of work still needs to be done to get our historic building in top condition.

Field Trip Fund. Educational field trips offer unique and invaluable opportunities for Barrett children. These experiences distinguish the Center from other day cares. This fund covers the cost of transportation and admission, if any. Additionally, we allow benefactors the option of sponsoring a specific trip, which may entail making arrangements and covering any necessary costs.

Professional Development and Programs Fund. We recognize the importance of having qualified, well-trained teachers and teaching assistants. This fund addresses the need for continuing education classes for our teachers and teaching assistants and helps provide them with updated materials and supplies to offer stimulating, challenging educational programs within Barrett classrooms.

Child Scholarship Fund. Many of our families cannot afford the full tuition. This fund provides for students who would otherwise be unable to attend the Center. It covers the tuition cost for families in need and deserving of additional financial assistance; scholarship awards are based on financial criteria.

Barrett’s Mary Reese Fund. This fund accepts donations for ongoing improvements in the Center, in honor of Mary Reese, a former director, whose dedication made it possible for the Center to remain open over the years. Money for the Center’s advertising, office supplies, graduation ceremonies, summer programs and special events will be drawn from this fund.

Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign. During the last several years, Barrett has participated in the CVC. This allows state employees (e.g., UVA, DMV, VDOT, etc) to donate a portion of their paychecks to Barrett. If you are interested please check the CVC website. Our CVC# is 3530.

Note. If you notice any errors or omissions on this page or would prefer to have your name removed from the benefactor list, please feel free to contact us.
