The High School Program

TEENSIGHT is very much involved with the pregnant and parenting teens at the area's local high schools (Charlottesville, Albemarle, Western Albemarle, Monticello, The Alternative School, Ivy Creek School, and Murray). This high school program offers regular meetings and support groups for any pregnant and parenting youths attending these schools. Experts on a variety of health care and child care issues make presentations throughout the year. Child care assistance is available for students who qualify. Other elements of the groups include individual counseling, communication and conflict resolution skills, mediation training, parenting skills, and employment readiness.

Students interested in attending these groups can find out more information by calling TEENSIGHT or by asking their guidance counselor.

The Resource Mothers Program

A Resource Mother serves as a mentor to a pregnant teen. She guides the young teen through her pregnancy and through the first year of her baby’s life. The Resource Mother encourages a healthy lifestyle and prepares the young teen for the birth of her baby. She offers parenting advice, support and finds resources in the community which help young mothers.

If you are pregnant and would like to find out more about our program please call, (434) 295-8336.
