Oxford Property
Background:
This property, just over the County line, is slated for developement. The original proposal for 308 apartment units in nine building was rejected by the Albemarle County Planning Commission at a work session on January 15, 2008. Valerie Long, the attorney representing the developer tried to get the Commissioners to indicate how many apartment units they would support on the property and hinted that 100 units might be an option that they propose after re-working the site plan. The Commissioners' initial rejection was tied to the difficult terrain that is associated with the property including, wetlands, steep slopes and a sizable flood plain. Additionally only one entrance is feasible with this property.
