Jack Jouett Chapter, NSDAR
Accomplishments
|
An ongoing project of the Jack Jouett Chapter of the NSDAR is perpetuating the
memory of Captain Jack Jouett and his efforts in securing American independence.
As part of a permanent observance of Captain Jouett's
accomplishments, the Chapter placed a brass star on the steps of Monticello.
In 1926, the chapter placed a 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide boulder with a mounted
bronze tablet near the spot from which Captain Jouett began his famous ride.
In 1967, a tractor trailer demolished the boulder. Due to changes in the roads,
part of the original boulder was relocated and a new brass plate mounted on
remaining boulder piece in 1968.
