Minutes of Meeting: October 8, 2007  6:30 PM

 

 

 Meeting called to order by President, Gayle Millner:

Minutes—Gale Smith

 

Minutes of September 10, 2007 meeting put into record

Approved and seconded D. Riddick and F. Long

 

Reports:

 

Treasurer’s report given by M. Smith

 

Concessions—figure does not include Pepsi bill; have not gotten bill from Sam’s yet

                       

G. Millner brought up probable need for concessions beyond end of regular season—team likely to go to tournament

 

Bob Kennedy—commended for management of fall concessions

 

M. Smith— regarding meal plan: Louisa game canceled, money will be given to students ($5.00 each) to make up for this

 

Band fees mentioned—this is office side, not really Boosters issue; M. Smith assists S. Nothnagle with this

 

M. Beverly-- nothing new re spring trip--still estimated at about $ 750

 

Band Updates--S. Nothnagle discussed upcoming competitions over next few weeks

Times for leaving and return set for Hanover,  VBODA Charlottesville, etc.

 

D. Riddick—Noted that we will host up to three games due to football team’s record:  Nov. 16, 17 and Nov.22, 23 (Fri. or Sat.); may also need to be available Dec 1, Dec. 8 for finals

Reports of Fundraisers:

 

M. Smith and F. Long—Discussed ads/programs from Classic

Printing cost:  $1,800

Took in $2,000 from ads; $1,500 from trophies

Paid for 600 programs, received 700 from printer

 

M Smith—Marchathon:  earned $328.50 for Boosters and $328.50 for student accounts

8 students total participated, have money in from 7 totaling $665.

 

P. Long--peanuts and cookie dough sales end soon

 

Candles, poinsettias, and citrus fruit begin late October

 

Discussion re fruit – direct shipping, order online—consider options

 

New business:

 

Fundraisers: Applebee’s does pancake breakfasts.  They provide pancake mix, sausage, coffee, tea, etc.  Juice must be brought in.  You have to do serving.  7:00-9:30. Can sell tickets in advance or sell at door.

 

March 15:  date available for Applebee’s on 29 pancake breakfast

 

S. Nothnagle:  Need people to come on the 29th of October for Longwood  University Wind Symphony concert at 7:00PM

 

Food for Longwood group—not in the budget.  Discussion re food.   Can eat in commons; use concessions area for prep.  Approved to spend up to $500 for food for Longwood.

 

Cell phone recycling as a fundraiser will be discussed at a later date.
