 “Penny Rugs Wool Embroidery”  Class

In the 1880’s, women would use scraps of wool or wool felt from old clothing and hats to create designs for mats or rugs.  They would make circles using coins as templates.  The scraps of wool would be cut out and stitched down using the blanket stitch.  Kathy Combiths, a member of Star Stitchers EGA and a professor of Appalachian studies at Virginia Tech, will be our guest teacher.  Come and learn how to do this type of embroidery.  This is an excellent program to take back to your chapter.
Kits will be available for $5.00.
Bring: sewing supplies such as needles, scissors, light and/or
magnifiers.
