Organization: Because the Society of Friends has no paid clergy, business is conducted and service is rendered within the Friends' Meeting by members of the Meeting itself. The Clerk of the Meeting, who serves for two years, convenes a Monthly Meeting for Worship for Business where decisions are made by the consensus of the Meeting. A Recording Clerk and Treasurer maintain records for the Meeting. Other needs of the community are met by committees:

In 1994 there were 304,000 members of the Religious Society of Friends in the world. The countries with the largest number of members were Kenya with 105,000 members and the United States with 103,000. Bolivia and Britain ranked third and fourth, respectively.
