New chapter formed in Nelson County!

We're delighted to welcome the Loose Threads chapter into the guild. This group has met informally since 2000, and became part of our guild in August, 2007.

Quilters started getting together regularly in Charlottesville over 25 years ago, in 1978. In 1987, there were so many quilters in the area that our area guild was formed. Now we have 6 local groups which meet regularly in the area. They are:

• Courthouse Steps--meet the first and third Tuesdays from 1 to 3 pm at Cottonwood in Meadowbrook Shopping Center.

• Crozet Quilters--meet second and fourth Mondays at The Meadows, from 10 am to 1 pm.

• Moonlighters--meet the second and fourth Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm at Cottonwood in Meadowbrook Shopping Center.

• Nelson Quilters--meet the first and third Mondays from 7 to 9:30 pm at Stitches and Shavings in Lovingston.

• Tuesday Morning Quilters, formerly known as Charlottesville Quilt Guild--meet every Tuesday from 10 am to noon at Aldersgate Methodist Church on Rio Rd.

• Loose Threads--meet the first, third, and fourth Tuesdays from 9 am to 2 pm at the Tuckahoe Community Center on Monacan Drive in Nellysford.

Twice a year, the entire guild meets for a business meeting and a social time. The first Saturday in May, we have SpringFest; the first Saturday in November is QuiltFest. These meetings are open to the public. We have a speaker or a workshop, eat lunch together and show the work we've completed recently in a popular "Show and Tell."

Our board of directors meets four times a year, with extra meetings possible, especially in years when we have a show. Call a board member or your chapter representative if you want to attend; locations and dates vary. All members of CAQG are welcome at board meetings.
