Waste Stream
 |
About the Program
According to
National statistics, paper accounts for 40 percent of the waste stream. Most of that paper
is recyclable or compostable. Rivanna Solid Waste Authority has innovative programs to
recover recyclable materials from the waste stream for communities and businesses. These
programs include additional newspaper and magazine drop-offs in the community and a
non-traditional recyclable program for businesses.
Economic Disposal of Sensitive Documents
Do you have an office paper
recycling program that is not as effective as it could be because of the disposal cost
attached to destroying those sensitive documents? Is that disposal cost eating your
recycling profits? Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RSWA) applauds your efforts and would
like to assist with your recycling program.
RSWA offers a
Confidential Document Destruction Program at the Material Utilization Center. Documents can
be destroyed for the economical price of $66 per ton. Rivanna Solid Waste Authority will
issue a Letter of Destruction for documents that are disposed of at the facility.
Participation in the Program
For your
convenience, the RSWA also offers a document pickup service.
