The RSWA waste transfer station is located at the Material Utilization Center at Ivy on State Route 637. Commercial haulers, and area residents of the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County with large loads, are directed to the transfer station area. This facility accepts solid waste, including small CDD loads, and conveys it into large trailers for the trip to the offsite landfill. Each trailer carries approximately 20 tons of material to the offsite disposal facility. To access the transfer station, cross over the scales, follow the signs and look for direction from RSWA staff operating the transfer station.
