Children's Ministry

Children

Children are considered an integral part of our church family at Scottsville Baptist Church. It is our desire to do all we can to minister to them and their families, help them to grow in their knowledge of God and to experience His love for them through the programs and activities that we offer.

Sunday School (Sundays, 9:45 a.m.)

This is the primary Bible teaching program for our children. See the section entitled Sunday School for a description of the age graded classes.

Children’s Sermon

Each Sunday during our morning worship there is a special time that we set aside for our children. All of the children are invited to the front of the sanctuary where one of our laypeople leads them in learning about how to be a follower of Jesus.

Children’s Worship

Following our Children’s Sermon, the children are dismissed to Children’s Church where they remain for the remainder of the worship service. They are led by our Children’s Worship Team in a variety of learning experiences.

Nursery

During the morning worship hour a nursery is provided for infants, birth through two years of age. A qualified layperson approved by our nursery committee takes care of the children.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer Scottsville Baptist Church joins the other churches in our community for a week of Vacation Bible School. The site is rotated each year and each church enlists a director and the necessary leadership to make VBS a success for our children.

Children’s Activities

During the year a number of special children’s activities are organized by our Children’s Committee. Christmas in Sunday School is an annual event as well as the Easter Egg Hunt and the Fall Family Festival.

Music Ministry

The Children’s Choir periodically sings in worship and present a special program during the Advent and Easter seasons.
