Scottsville Baptist Church

Worship

We believe that worship of God is central to the Christian experience and encourage a strong, regular practice of coming into the presence of God as a corporate community of faith to express our love and adoration for Him.

What is worship like at Scottsville Baptist Church?

Our worship is usually what would be considered "traditional."  However, you may come to worship and discover that we are not hesitant to use elements of  various styles of worship.  We will sing contemporary choruses, traditional hymns, southern gospel and ancient songs.  We value other traditions such as Catholic, Quaker, Anglican and Celtic.  We believe the arts such as music, drama, dance, readings and visual art are important expressions of our worship, as well as the use of silence and meditation.

Music

Music is an integral part of our worship and our church life.  There are several opportunities to be a part of this ministry.

The Adult Choir meets each Tuesday evening for practice. They lead our worship through music each week and at Advent and Easter perform special musical presentations.

The Children’s Choir periodically sing in worship and present a special program during the Advent and Easter seasons.

There are also opportunities for individuals who sing or play an instrument to share during worship. On special occasions, guest musicians or musical groups are invited to participate in worship.
