Recycle for Sight
May is Recycle for Sight Month--make plans to participate!
For more than 70 years, Lions clubs have been collecting and distributing unwanted eyeglasses for people in need in developing countries. In many countries, a pair of eyeglasses are not only unaffordable, but also inaccessible. One eye exam in a developing country may cost as much as one month’s wages. In 2000-2001 the nine official Lions Recycling Centers collected approximately 5 million pairs of eyeglasses and distributed more than 2.7 million pairs.
The Scottsville Lions Club collects unwanted eyeglasses year round!
Drop your unwanted eye glasses at one of Scottsville Lion’s collection points:
The yellow box outside the front door or the IGA
or
in the collection boxes inside
Scottsville branch of BB&T Bank,
Scottsville Library foyer,
Bruce Drug Store foyer,
or
Scottsville Post Office Foyer.
P.S. You may drop eye glasses or cell phones for recycling in these boxes!
