<bR> <div> <B>NEW LIONS CLUB OFFICERS INSTALLED</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Scottsville, June 13, 2007-- An installation ceremony was held on June 13 at 7 PM at the Scottsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall for incoming officers of the Scottsville Lions Club.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Lion Sallie Massie was elected as the club president for 2007-2008. Other officers are 1</B><B>st</B><B> Vice President, Lion Barry Grove; 2d Vice President, Lion John Bowers; Secretary, Lion Richard Singleton; and Treasurer, Lion Pete Johnson.</B></div> <bR> <DIV ALIGN="LEFT"></DIV> <div> <B><IMG SRC="04b90a40.jpg" border=0 width="400" height="164" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></B></div> <bR> <div> <B>L-R:  Bobby Spencer, Sallie Massie, John Bowers, Richard Singleton,</B></div> <div> <B>Barry Grove, and Pete Johnson</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>According to Massie, club president, “I am looking forward to leading various projects and continuing the Scottsville Lion Club’s commitment to serving our community.”</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Since the club’s chartering in 1942, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as Christmas Food Baskets, Gifts to Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department, Gifts to Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit, collecting eye glasses and cell phones for recycling and providing Eye Glasses and Hearing Aids for the needy.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit, Eye Glasses and Hearing Aids for the needy, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Lion Sight Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Recording for the Blind, Lions Hearing Foundation, Blue Ridge International Ophthalmology, and Service Dogs of Virginia. The club is currently planning to offer sodas and water at the Scottsville 4</B><B>th</B><B> of July Parade to raise money for these projects for the coming year.</B></div> <bR> <div> <B>The Scottsville Lions Club has 20 members and meets on second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at the Scottsville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
