TEENSIGHT's Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention program is for young teens who are at risk of becoming pregnant. This program works in conjunction with programs run by other agencies in our community to focus on decreasing the number of children who become parents at an early age.
To combat the crippling effects of teen pregnancy, a combination of techniques are used to encourage common sense, abstinence and effective methods for avoiding high-risk situations.
Weekly meetings feature speakers on a variety of topical issues. Young women who were teen parents act as mentors, informing participants about the realities of being a teen parent and what it has meant for them. Work experience and volunteer opportunities are available for participants, as is after-school tutoring.
