About VHST

Annual Calendar of Events and Deadlines

June
All CSB's, BHA's, and selected private agencies across the state receive a mailing, soliciting job commitments for the upcoming class of students.

July
Position commitments from the agencies must be received by VHST by the end of the month.

August
By the end of the first week of the month, student application packets are sent out to agencies that have made commitments of jobs.

September
Completed applications for admission must be received by VHST by the end of the first week of the month.

Mid-September - Mid-October

All applicants will be scheduled for an interview to be conducted in their region of the state.

October

Letters of acceptance will be sent to all successful applicants. Persons not accepted will receive suggestions about what they can do to become stronger candidates if they decide to apply again. People accepted for admission must immediately contact their local DRS office, asking for financial support for program attendance.

November
Financial aid applications as well as applications for admission to PVCC must be completed. Arrangements must be made to permit students to keep their home situations running smoothly while they live in Charlottesville for 16 weeks.

December
One-day orientation session will be held on PVCC campus. Students will complete course enrollment forms, tour the campus, and get to visit one of the apartments where they will live. Roommates will be selected.

January
Move to Charlottesville and begin full-time classes.

May

Move home and begin 12 week paid internship with future employer.

August

Internship completed.

September
Graduation ceremony held at PVCC on the first Wednesday after Labor Day. Begin new employment.
