Virginia’s Human Services Training
Center
Student Data Summary 2001-2004
Consumer Provider Training Program
- 66 students have completed the two semester, 21 credit
training program.
- 63 graduates began working at their local CSB/BHA immediately
upon graduation, in part time jobs of 20 hrs. or less per
week.
- 44 graduates were still employed by their initial MH
employer one year after their graduation from the training
program (11 additional graduates began employment in September
2006). Although some graduates left employment due to significant
relapses, others left for other reasons – to pursue
additional education, to enter another field, or to work
in a different mental health setting.
- To date, 20 CSB/BHA’s and one private provider
have committed jobs to VHST graduates. Since position commitments
are required before consumer applicants are recruited from
specific areas of the state, agency participation is crucial
to the continuation of this exciting and empowering vocational
opportunity for Virginia’s consumers, as well as to
the continuing success of VHST.
