April 15, 2007 Dear Wesley Memorial Church Family and Friends, Today's tragic shootings at Virginia Tech have left more than 30 dead and at least that many wounded. We will have a prayer service on Wednesday at noon in our church sanctuary to pray for all at Virginia Tech, those who have been wounded, and the families of those who were killed. If you know a student at Virginia Tech and would like the Rev. Glenn Tyndall, the United Methodist Campus Minister, to be in touch in the upcoming days to offer the presence and comfort of the church, please forward the names to me. The Wesley Foundation at Virginia Tech is adjacent to the campus and has been open all day and available to students as they have made their way there. The Wesley Foundation at VT was in lockdown mode until the gunman was apprehended. They are providing shelter, comfort, and land lines for those who cannot get cell service. Classes at Virginia Tech have been cancelled for today and tomorrow. Please keep the Virginia Tech campus and campus ministry in your prayers, and please come to the prayer service this Wednesday, April 18th, at noon. With sadness, Elizabeth Foss |
