The Artist

Jonathan Oldengarm has been hailed for his “unalloyed musicality and stylish imagination.” A laureate of the Calgary and Royal Canadian College of Organists’ (RCCO) National Competitions, he recently won the second prize at the 2008 Pipeworks Competition in Dublin. He holds degrees in organ and harpsichord from Wilfrid Laurier and McGill Universities, including the DMus (2005), as well as the Fellowship diploma of the RCCO. He held a grant from the DAAD from 2003 to 2005 while studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, Germany. He has performed several hundred recitals in North America, Asia and Europe, with recent appearances at the Marienkirche, Rachtig (Germany); the Organix08 Festival in Toronto; the 2008 National Convention of the RCCO; Assumption College, Worcester, Mass.; and Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. Upcoming events include the Festivale des couleurs de l’orgue français at the Grande Séminaire de Montréal; the 2008 CBC Radio Sing–In at The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, Montréal; the 2009 RCCO National Convention; and the 2008–2009 season as a National Traveling Clinician for the RCCO. From 2005 to 2007, Jonathan Oldengarm taught organ, harpsichord and figured bass at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. He is currently Director of Music at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul in Montréal. His Web site is www.oldengarm.com.
